Supporting local charities for International Women's Month 2023

As part of our International Women’s Month celebrations back in March, Moore Stephens Channel Islands ran an initiative supporting Safer in Guernsey and Jersey Women’s Refuge in Jersey, organised by the ‘Community Care’ team within our wider Social Ambition commitment.

Through the generous contributions of our staff members in both offices, the firm was able to gather a huge number of new and unused toiletries for the women and children being supported by these institutions.

Safer in Guernsey supports and empowers against domestic abuse, their priority being around safety and working on individual plans with their clients in order to support them and their children in becoming safer in the way best suited to their needs.  Safer provides an outreach service, an independent domestic violence advisory service, a kids independent domestic advisory service as well as moving on counselling.  Safer is also able to provide in their 5-bed refuge for women and children who are escaping domestic abuse.

Jersey Women’s Refuge provides a safe house (opened in 1988) as a safe place for women and children to go who are victims of domestic abuse.  Jersey Women’s Refuge also provides outreach services, including a 24-hour, confidential service which offers practical and emotional support to women and children suffering from abuse.  Training is also provided in schools, organisations and running workshops.

Huge thanks to all our kind and generous staff for all items donated and well done to Yvonne Topping, Jaine Quemard, Pamela Lizarondo and Sally Tester for their work in organising this initiative.
