Role purpose:
To actively manage and service a mixed portfolio of local and international clients, containing local traders, property holding structures, investment vehicles and various general-purpose funds to ensure that the client’s needs are met, whilst assisting in the supervision and mentoring of junior fee earners, and minimising corporate risk by ensuring compliance with procedures and legislation.
Core responsibilities:
- Completing other take-on procedures (engagement letters, setup of Xero, etc).
- Creating and maintaining client files on office systems.
- Creating and maintaining client records in database and practice management systems.
- Responding to day-to-day client queries quickly and efficiently.
- Ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Clearing and filing all emails and post on a daily basis.
- The production and management of the Statutory Annual Reports and Financial Statements, including monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements.
- Review and advise on changes needed to Financial Statements prepared by more junior members of the team.
- To support the manager by taking on various ad-hoc tasks and projects as/when required.
- The compliance and assurance of financial standards relating to financial accounting issues. To ensure compliance with new and existing accounting standard requirements and to act as an advisor in the interpretation of accounting standards. To coach junior members about new accounting standards.
- To work with compliance and management to ensure that all working practices are considered when developing and improving policies and procedures.
- When required, to act as liaison with external auditors of clients, following up all audit queries arising.
- To prepare tax computations, tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.
- To prepare various reconciliations.
- To assist with proposals for new engagements.
- To review WIP continually so that advanced discussions can be held with clients where work falls outside the scope of any fixed fee arrangement, and to discuss additional fee invoices with Management where work is out of scope and special bills are raised where appropriate.
- To maintain a good understanding of local Regulatory requirements.
- Other projects as assigned.
- Acquire a working knowledge of the client’s business.
- Proactively interact with key clients’ management to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
- Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Technical / Professional / Qualification Requirements:
- CGI/STEP Diploma or equivalent completed; or
- Qualified Accountant (by qualification through the Professional body); or
- Functional Qualification relevant to function; and
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
