In the 30 years since I qualified as a Chartered Accountant I have learned that my role is not about numbers; but about people and relationships.
I had thought I would be poring over figures but, instead, I have found myself solving problems to help people (staff and clients) to achieve their goals.
I have worked in or led many different types of organisations and operated in countries as diverse as Kazakhstan, Madagascar, St Lucia, Mexico and Russia (and most of Europe), but I find that people have the same needs wherever you go.
So, after 30 years I have concluded that I may just be a people person.
And this is what appeals to me about being a part of Moore Stephens and the wider Moore Global network of firms; we are a people business; led by people who understand that and work to help people thrive – clients, our people and the communities they live and work in.
I have been part of the Moore Stephens story for the past 14 years. We serve a range of clients from small local businesses to some of the largest structures in the Channel Islands. Our services cover audit, accounting, tax, consulting, advisory, valuations, regulatory, governance and a host of other disciplines – if you don’t know whether we can do something, just ask. The answer is usually – yes, we can! Our range of services is global as our network has over 30,000 people in 112 countries.
Because of our people we have been able to grow our business many times over since I joined the firm. 2021 sees our growth curve continue to accelerate as more potential clients become aware of our services and, more importantly, our ethos. As we grow, I encounter more new clients and we continue to recruit new staff who can add to our story.
Which brings me back again to my main point – I am not an accountant, I am a people person!”
