White Collar Boxing

White Collar Boxing

Maria Culkin

On Saturday 22 October, I will be participating in the White Collar Boxing event which is sponsored by MacMillan Jersey.

Both the event and training are being put together by The Rock Fitness in Jersey, which incidentally happens to be my brother’s gym. I also have a brother who lives in the UK, and he is the reason I’ve decided to sign up for the white collar... In August 2020 he suffered a brain injury, and is currently in a rehabilitation centre. The Brain Charity in the UK assists not only those people who have suffered a brain injury, but also the rehabilitiation centre, families and loved ones. The charity supported our family so much during that period and they have kindly sent me a sponsorship form so I can give back to the charities!

The training started on Monday 22 August with the last session on Wednesday 19 October. We have been training Monday and Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings which is always outside weather permitting and includes some form of intense drills, running up hills, stairs etc. The Weigh-In will be held at the Yacht on Friday 21 October.

The training is both intense and rewarding and something I feel I’ll continue once the White Collar is over. White Collar Boxing was never on my bucket list; however, it is on it now and come October, I can cross it off!

Moore Stephens is proud that Maria is supporting these very worthy causes. It is no surprise that Maria has approached the training with the same hard work and commitment she displays at work every day, so the team will be ringside to cheer her on when the bell rings!
