Role purpose:

To support the Local Business Service Manager in delivering high-quality accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of clients, with a growing focus on financial services entities (investment funds, SPVs, private client structures) alongside established local commercial clients.

The role also contributes to client development, mentoring the other team members, efficiency improvements, and technical quality, supporting the firm’s strategic objective to expand the business generally and its financial services offering.

Core responsibilities:

Client Service Delivery

  • Manage a portfolio of accounting clients including local trading and commercial businesses, SPVs, holding companies, private client vehicles and potentially, investment funds and related structures.

  • Prepare and review:

  • Financial statements (FRS 102, IFRS where applicable).

  • Management accounts and reporting packs.

  • Prepare tax computations, tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.

  • Consolidations and complex group structures.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting frameworks and filing deadlines.

  • Liaise with the tax team and the audit team for smooth delivery of overall client services.

Review and Quality Control

  • Review work prepared by junior staff.

  • Ensure outputs are technically accurate, consistent with internal quality standards and delivered on a timely basis.

  • Support audit readiness (where clients are audited externally).

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact.

  • Build strong relationships with Directors, administrators and owners.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in client processes and additional services (e.g. outsourced finance, reporting enhancements, payroll, agreed upon procedures, virtual FD and taxation services).

Team Support and Development

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members.

  • Support workflow planning and job allocation.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in systems, templates and processes.

Business Development Support

  • Assist Directors and/or Managers with proposal preparation and fee estimates and onboarding of new clients.

  • Contribute to the Company’s reputation for quality and technical capability.

Quality and Attention to Detail

  • Produce accurate, well-structured and review ready work and maintains high professional standards.

  • Take ownership of deadlines and deliverables.

  • Comfortable working across different client types (commercial vs private client vs financial services).

  • Open to developing deeper expertise in financial services accounting.

  • Embrace process improvements and technology including the use of AI to support workflows.

Technical / Professional / Qualification Requirements:

  • ACA / ACCA (or equivalent qualification).

  • 3 – 7 years post qualification experience.

  • Desirable but not essential experience in Jersey / Channel Islands regulatory environment, fund accounting or fiduciary services.

  • Exposure to consolidation systems or accounting software (e.g. CCH, CaseWare, QuickBooks, Xero).

  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and financial instruments and fair value concepts.

  • Ability to interpret complex structures and transactions.
